Well, lately all i have been doing is teaching. We just got the approval last week to officially work in schools. We have been working at a boys school for drop outs. They are so smart and impress me everyday with what they know. I love going there. I work with the more advanced boys, there about to be smarter than me real soon. Haha. I still tutor every night. I look forward to seeing my boys everyday. I feel like there big sister, I tease them all the time! Its great. The music class that I have teaching is going so good. They know 3 songs that we have taught them and then we picked out 4 more for this week. I went to there viallge this past weekend and the boys were singing the songs as we hiked. Im so excited for them. They all have such great voices, im so jealous.
This past sunday, I went to church with the back door neighbors. It was so funny, I was so lost and confused the entire time. It was all in Fijian but I definitly understood when he started talking about me and my friend because he would say kaipolangi which is the white people. He mentioned that plenty times. The power was off all day sunday so that was a bummer, but luckily it was raining all day so its wasnt too hot. life here in Fiji is so good. It is going by way to fast though. I have made some really good friends that im going to miss so much. I have to go though, I have a meeting at a school to set up a reading program. Ill blog about that next week. Hope everyone is doing well!

Only one month left :(
I know, I know, I need to blog way more. I am just so busy and I haven’t been to the internet cafĂ© in over two weeks so. I finally have an update. First off, as of today I have officially one month left here. Its crazy. I love it here and never want to leave. The projects that I have been working on are going really well. Lately I haven’t been working on medical projects but everything else. Haha. I love going to villages, it’s my favorite thing ever! I have been going to this one village called vakabuli. I teach a music class once a week there. They are awesome! They all have such amazing voices. At the end of the class we are going to have a talent show with there village. Some of the people in my group and I went to a village called koroipita and held our own health screening for diabetes and hypertension. It went so well. I helped with the education at the end and then taught dental hygiene and passed out toothbrushes. It was crazy, I passed out like 60 toothbrushes and toothpaste in less than an hour. Many of the people had never even heard of floss so it was a good opportunity to teach them how to use it. I have been teaching English and math at the Ba Boys school. It is a technical trade school for drop outs to attend. One of the volunteers that was in charge of that project left and handed it over to me. Today was the first day without her and I must say that it went much better now that we have changed things. I tutor boys that live at the Ba boys home (right next to the boys school) every night. I tutor the same two boys every night. They are so awesome. I love working with them, they make me laugh the entire time. They both go to high school, sometimes there homework is too hard for me and they have to teach me. Haha. It’s kind of funny. Yeah, all my projects are going so good.
I have made so many local friends. I love it. They are the best people ever. I may be a little too friendly sometimes. I have been asked to marry random men, to go live in there village with them and the list goes on. Haha. It makes me laugh every time. I need to learn to say no to people. My back door neighbors and me are best friends now. This boy was out chopping weeds with a machete and we started talking. Since than we have been hanging out a lot. He is super cool and it helps that he is cute. Haha. I have a lot of friends in villages that I love going to. I go to church here every week and made friends with a couple families. I always end up teaching young womens, Sunday school or primary. But its okay because teaching here is so easy. I went to Suva a few weeks ago. It was beautiful and busy. The shops there are open after 6 o’clock, it was awesome! Everywhere but Suva, the entire town/city shuts down. Fiji is so great! I love the people and the work that Im doing here. Thank you everyone who made this trip possible for me. It has been life changing for sure!

Finally!
Bula! (Hello in Fijian)
Yay! Haha. Well, Im in Fiji!!!! I have been here for a month now. It is so much different than America. I live in a town called Ba, its on the western side of the island. I live in a tiny house with 20 other people. We dont have much personal space so I guess its a good thing that I like everyone I live with. There are 6 boys and 14 girls. Poor guys, they are always with girls. We have no hot water so showers are very short. Im starting to pick up Fijian, well a few phrases at least. Oh, and Ba is the Indo-Fijian capital of the world. There are so many Indians (like from India). Its weird. I secretly like the Fijians better.
I never knew that being white would be so helpful. People here always point at us and say kaivalogi (white person). Its funny because were starting to pick up words that they call us so we know when they are talking about us. There are so many guys our age here. They either go to a university or work. But I love that there are so many because they love talking to us and I love talking to them. I think I have fallen in love with several Fijian boys. They always come up to us and start talking. We have taken several pictures with random people. Haha.
The people here are so giving. I feel like a spoiled rotten brat coming here. The people here literally have nothing and yet they want to give us everything they have. We go to villages several times a week and they always make us food. I definietly dont love there food, but its okay. This one village I went to fed us these whole fish, like with the eyeballs and scales and everything. I thought I was going to die when I saw it. Haha, but when the whole village is watching and waiting for you to eat there food, you can do anything. I had the worst stomach ache afterwards but it was worth knowing that I made them happy.
I am with an organization called HELP-International. We are working in poor villages teaching health educations classes, microfinance classes, teach people how to garden and lots of other stuff. Since I have been here I have helped with several health clinics taking vitals of patients, teaching kids about health/oral education, teaching at schools (like basic grammar), teaching a music class and tutoring orphans. I have made so many friends, I love it. I work monday-friday and then weekends we go on weekend vacations.
Some of the weekend vacations that I have gone on are snorkeling at a private island. It was the coolest thing I have ever experienced. I was in awe the entire time. I also have spent a lot of time hanging out on the beach swimming in the ocean and tanning on the beach. This next weekend were going to Suva for a temple trip and then the week after there is a group going skydiving. Im still debating if Im going or not. Haha, I think I will chicken out. Haha. There are several villages that want us to come spend the night and see what a traditional Fijian night festival would be like.
I am loving it here. Mostly because the people are so kind and are always helping us with everything. They will drop what there doing to walk you to the market. I love the people Im with and the best part of it is devoting my life to service 100% of the time. I get so excited knowing that Im helping these people improve there lives. I still have like 9 weeks left here. At times it can be very hard but when I forget about the stupid things people do and remember why Im here, its all good.

Well, I made it to Fiji! Yay! I have been here for three days and love it! I never want to leave. The humidity is crazy but I still like it. The people here are awesome. Everyone wants to talk to you and get to know you because you are white. Its pretty funny. I have so much to say but I have to go right now. I will be back with so many cool things to say. Haha. I will post pictures really soon! Keep checking back!

3 days until I leave!!!!
Well, I guess its about time to update my blog, since i'm leaving in 3 days. I am so excited to go to Fiji! I cant wait to go help so many people. It will be a life changing experience. Hopefully I will have new posts weekly so you guys can see what I'm up to, at least thats the plan. Haha. Also as team Fiji, we have a group blog as well, so you can see all our projects that we're doing. It is http://fiji.help-international.org/. So look on there as well, its pretty cool. I have started packing this weekend and everytime I start, I just want to quit because I have so much stuff. I will be doing a dental hygiene project and some very generous people donated 250 toothbrushes, 150 tubes of toothpaste and 150 things of floss, and lots of pamphlets. I have to figure out how to get that over there too. Haha. Well thats it for now, but I will be posting my adventures here! Thanks for all those who donated to help make this happen!
